For one night Keiken invites us into their prophetic visions. In a mixed-media performance we explore their brand new sensoric technology of the Meta-Womb and reimagine the birth of our future bodies.
Welcome to a collective shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space: The Metaverse of Keiken. In this intriguing event incorporating live haptics, sound, visuals, performance, and storytelling their new sensoric technology named Meta-Womb will premiere. It will bridge our experiences into the digital realm and stimulate other-worldly senses of touch and motion. The audience will be invited to wear it and experience its sensual attractions. Combined with narratives of future and ancient wisdom Keiken guides us to reconnect to our original technique; “We all carry within us the ability to birth new ways of existing and to have the maternal instinct of eternal love, nurture, care and compassion. That when we are born our environment is completely new and could become anything.” The meta-womb technology seeks to expand empathy, not just to humans but other species and to a more cosmic space.
Note: As part of the 9th “Branchentreff”, there will be an Artist Talk with Keiken and performance artist Katerina Hvaerich on Tuesday October 26 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Register online by October 20 via: https://pap-berlin.de/de/9-branchentreff
Keiken are a collaborative practice, co-founded by artists Tanya Cruz, Hana Omori and Isabel Ramos in 2015, who frequently work with multiple collaborators. Based between London and Berlin, they come from mixed diasporic backgrounds (Mexican/Japanese/European/Jewish). They are building a collective shared space of virtual worlds, a Metaverse. Keiken, the Japanese word for experience, create speculative worlds, using moving-image, CGI, gaming software, installation, virtual and augmented reality, programming and performance to merge the physical and digital. Their work simulates new structures and ways of existing, exploring how societal introjection governs the way we feel, think and perceive.
